Luthiers at work

A Luthier is defined as a maker of stringed instruments.  There are Luthiers on staff here, but they may or may not be working when you take your tour.  The tour is interesting and informative, even if they are not on site.

Gibson Guitar Factory Tour

Keep in mind it is a woodworking factory with the accompanying sawdust

The atmosphere in the factory is kept at a constant temperature to maintain the wood suitable for creating guitars.

The tour guides here are well-informed and happy to share information with you.  The presentation they give as you walk through the factory provides you with ample information about how the guitars are made.

If you have questions, they are glad to answer them as well.

YeaMemphis Tip – If you are thinking of buying a guitar, what better Memphis souvenir could there be than your own Gibson guitar purchased after your factory tour.

Best Photo Op – See if you can get a photo in front of the lobby desk with the huge guitar in the background.  The Wurlitzer Jukeboxes are beautiful.  Get a photo with your favorite one.
